    Just to set the stage, I had worked 4 years in IT for a high-tech company prior to joining Wal-Mart so I had certain expectations as an IT professional.

    To be sure, this is not an easy job. Developers carry a pager and can get pages anytime, day or night (Japan, China, Canada, U.S., Brazil, lots of fun accents at 3:00 AM). The teams tend to be pretty good to each other with minimal politicing. Promotions are given out mostly-fairly.
